Abstract:
About 30 years ago, in his first attempt to prove Howe’s finiteness conjecture, Clozel made an assumption that the set of special exponents is finite, the so-called Clozel’s finiteness conjecture. Some special cases are known as corollaries of answering the deep question of explicitly determining the set of discrete series, like GL_n (Bernstein 1970s), classical groups (Moeglin-Tadic 2000s). In this talk, we want to serve you an intuitive reduction step which is a corollary of Muller type irreducibility criterion for generalized principal series based on two novel observations.
