Title:	Strictly Distributed and Adaptive Optimization of Network Systems

Abstract:	This talk develops new distributed control strategies for integrated management of load power sharing, line loss reduction, and voltage quality improvement in dc MGs. For dc MGs, load allocation to DGs, line losses, and voltage profiles are intimately coupled. Achieving a suitable balance among these objectives is essential for reliable and efficient MG operations and imposes a significant challenge for control strategy development. This talk introduces a multi-objective optimization strategy to address such a challenge. The competing objectives are expressed in a global optimization performance index. The corresponding global optimal solutions are derived. To reduce operational costs, improve robustness and reliability, and provide scalability, distributed optimal solutions for this combined power management problem are derived. Also, this talk studies a class of adaptive optimization problems in which identification of unknown parameters and search for the optimal solutions must be performed simultaneously. Joint identification and optimization algorithms are developed and their simultaneous convergence properties of parameter estimation and optimization variable updates are proved. Under both noise-free and noisy observations, the corresponding convergence rates are established.
